You’ve just gotten home. You’re tired. You’re hungry. You just want to sit down, maybe grab a bag of potato chips, and start streaming whatever you are binge watching now. We all know how easy it can be to fall into this pattern of repetition, the trick is finding the motivation to not fall into this potentially self-destructive pattern.
Who grows my food? Who grows your food? It seems to be a pretty simple question right? The farmer does. And if that’s all you want to know then the answer really is that simple. But, what if you want to know more? You may have already read where your food comes from but that doesn’t answer who grows it. Not really anyways.
How many times have you been frustrated? Overwhelmed? Lost in the maze? Well, as a farmer I can tell you that these are not uncommon occurrences. It seems that most years in the potato industry are more than a little frustrating on average and with a year like the one we are in the midst of now, which is by most accounts I have heard is the worst in most memory, it happens more frequently to me than I’d like to admit. Enter: cycling.
When I started working on the farm I had been riding dirt bikes for about five years. I had even done a couple of motocross races and even finished top three. I used the sport to stay active and healthy.
