I wanted something a little easier to write for, something that I could basically just write that would fill people in on what was going on and maybe attract attention to things that may otherwise be either unnoticed or could use more attention. So, by creating this section of my website I should be able to do just that.
You’ve just gotten home. You’re tired. You’re hungry. You just want to sit down, maybe grab a bag of potato chips, and start streaming whatever you are binge watching now. We all know how easy it can be to fall into this pattern of repetition, the trick is finding the motivation to not fall into this potentially self-destructive pattern.
How many times have you been frustrated? Overwhelmed? Lost in the maze? Well, as a farmer I can tell you that these are not uncommon occurrences. It seems that most years in the potato industry are more than a little frustrating on average and with a year like the one we are in the midst of now, which is by most accounts I have heard is the worst in most memory, it happens more frequently to me than I’d like to admit. Enter: cycling.
When I started working on the farm I had been riding dirt bikes for about five years. I had even done a couple of motocross races and even finished top three. I used the sport to stay active and healthy.
